Your first sync

  1. Install the desktop or mobile app from the link above and sign in.
  2. Pick a folder to sync — it can be an empty one or an existing folder of files.
  3. Drop files in. Changes are encrypted on your device and uploaded in chunks.
  4. Install on a second device and sign in with the same account. The same folder appears.
  5. Edit a file on one device — within seconds it updates on the other.

If you don't see sync happening, check the system-tray icon for status. Most issues are firewall or proxy related — see Troubleshooting.

Recovery phrase

⚠️ Save it. Lose it and your files are gone forever.

When you sign up, we show you a 12-word recovery phrase exactly once. Because your encryption key is derived from your password, and because we never see your password, we cannot reset your account if you forget it.

The recovery phrase is your second factor — it lets you regenerate your account encryption key if you forget your password. Write it down. Put it somewhere safe. Don't email it to yourself.

If you've already lost both — there's nothing we can do. This is the trade-off of true zero-knowledge: maximum privacy, zero ability to recover for you.

Troubleshooting

Sync stalls or shows an error

Most common cause: a corporate firewall or proxy blocking long-lived connections. Try a different network. If the issue persists, send us the log file from Help → Export logs.

A file isn't syncing to another device

Check that both devices are signed in to the same account, and that the folder is enabled for selective sync on the destination device. Sync conflicts (you edited the same file on two devices simultaneously) create a {filename}.conflict-{date} copy.

I can't sign in

If you've forgotten your password, you can recover access with your recovery phrase. If you've lost both — unfortunately we can't help (see the warning above).
